W/C 12th December 2022 – Ho Ho Ho….

In our final week before we break up for Xmas holidays some of our younger people have been continuing their education with fun learning – maths games, Junior Monopoly, pairs, heads & shoulders, knees & toes and some Christmas pictures on the laptop

We also turned our hands to making snow globes – getting into the festive spirit! This is actually quite a big deal for this young man, to start and finish a piece of craft/art work. Usually very self-critical about his work and will rip up and throw it away – but today, he completed it and how super proud of him we are!

We always find time each week to do some cooking – may not be traditional Christmas food this time but a very tasty Lasagna. Eating a variety of foods provides a range of nutrients to the body, promotes good health and can help reduce the risk of disease – as well as keeping your diet interesting with different flavours and textures. We are looking forward to next year and seeing what culinary delights our young people learn to make.

Our young people and our team had great fun at The Evidence Room this week. A fully immersive escape room experience. Each escape room is designed to test your creative thinking, wit and teamwork! What a great way for young people to learn and work as a team.

Over in Newmarket this week the wheels went onto the locomotive project – its really coming together and we can’t wait to see the finished article.

Our Christmas Boxes went to the local church today, to give back to those that need it a bit more than us! Super proud of the young people for helping us with this project.

Who doesn’t love to hug an inflated Christmas ginger breadman this time of year!

One of our young people have been hard at work helping to make the Dog Grooming and Hairdressing Salons ready for business in 2023.

Photography is important because we can document something and have it forever. Photography lets us see something we may never have noticed otherwise, especially when we have the ability to take photos from up high.

Over in the Carpentry area they have been busy making a Samurai Sword.

“What is a samurai sword called? Katana (刀) is the word for ” sword” in the Japanese language. It is also used specifically for a type of Japanese backsword or longsword (大刀 daitō) in use after the 1400s: a curved, single-edged sword traditionally used by the Samurai.”

Studies show that being outside in nature is relaxing, reducing our stress, cortisol levels, muscle tension and heart rates – this is so important for our young people to experience. So although the temperatures dropped this week – we wrapped up warm and had some fun. Whether it was a team game of football, a little bobsledding or attempting to play golf on a frozen course!

So our last term for 2022 came to an end and the team were able to enjoy a Xmas Party. We are all so busy, often in different locations this was a great opportunity to get together in one place, enjoy great company, good food and reflect on this last year at Pushforward and of course discuss the exciting adventures that await us all in 2023.

So as we now close for Christmas and say goodbye to 2022 and hello to 2023, we would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone; from our blog readers, our parents/carers, our suppliers, our team, but most of all our young people – a very Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year.

Our Ethos

No one can begin to affect the world around them until they are CONFIDENT , COMFORTABLE, happy in their own skin and have found their SPARK! We take the time to understand and develop programmes from where the learner is in the world not where we think they should be.
