W/C 26th September – Indoors Or Outdoors The Learning Adventure Never Ends

Anxiety is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe. Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life. But imagine being this young and feeling scared. At Pushforward we work with our young people to feel more confident, comfortable and find their spark. Walking around the Zoo our Young People use signs to identify each animal, their habitat, the world they come form, their diet and whether they are endangered or not and what this means. Learning can be fun even when you are a little scared about the world around you!

When a young person is engaged they become inquisitive, ask meaningful questions and show a genuine interest. Subjects covered include practical application skills and building self esteem/confidence. Isn’t it great to learn in a fun way and become engaged with an activity becuase you genuinely enjoy it! Remembering one size does not fit all in the world of learning!

Visiting the farm. Farms are magical places for children. Children find it fascinating to be able to pet animals, feed them and learn how to be kind and caring. After all, there’s no experience quite as novel as feeding goats, stroking horses or petting smaller animals.

Visiting The East Anglian Food Museum. Learning about history is as important as the world around us right now. Listening skills came to play today when the staff helped our young people understand what was at the museum. Learning how to ride a carriage with horses – not something we think we can do in Suffolk! It’s fun being able to dress up and use props from the olden days!

An ongoing project for one of our young people. Its wonderful to see and idea coming to fruition.

Young People helping to make our Newmarket centre even more attractive, gardening done (tick), decking built (check). What may be a chore to us – for a young person can be great fun!

Today we came up with some rules for a game. Learning to collaborate with others can be challenging, but our young people worked really well together today.
An area a lot of our young people are interested in is Bike Maintenance. Giving them skills like this is something they can take into later life, keep their bikes in good order, knowing how to change a tyre, check brakes.

Our Ethos

No one can begin to affect the world around them until they are CONFIDENT , COMFORTABLE, happy in their own skin and have found their SPARK! We take the time to understand and develop programmes from where the learner is in the world not where we think they should be. The work is underpinned by the Pushforward Wellbeing Index which looks at five key factors to wellbeing.
