Enjoying Education…..I know that sounds weird, a young person actually enjoying learning!
At Pushforward we get that a lot. Young people finding their spark and realising they can achieve amazing results with the right support, learning and having a smile on their face!
Over in Newmarket 1 the smiling face is due to having an opportunity to practice welding for the first time, learning some tips and techniques before making a start on the base for the bench project.

Arrived 11am Friday back into our workshop! Very happy with the finished paint job. Upholstery next then 1001+ snagging jobs for the students to work through but…. the end is in sight now!

We have also continued our learning with servicing a car.

Some more happy faces now when we did cooking this week, but some sad looking gingerbread people! We had bacon and cheese turnovers and cheese twists, Victoria Sponge Cake, Peanut Butter Fudge, Pizza and Mozzarella Sticks and Gingerbread biscuits, pancakes and meringue.

After working hard in Lowestoft helping to prepare the building; lifting up old floor, sanding edges of new desk, using the jigsaw for the corners, cutting the frame for the legs, a little downtime with our first ever game of pool.

In between the rain clouds we took a trip to the park. Its so important that young children get to ‘play’, enjoy being outside, being creative and physical.

Talking of getting physical, a trip to High Lodge next – Go Ape and Archery. Brilliant ways to get fit, learn how to focus – perfecting each step. Building self-confidence and resilience.

Science experiments are not only fun, but they help young people make observations, ask questions, make predictions – satisfyingly their desire to understand how things work. Encourages curiosity in a safe environment, exploring difference scientific concepts.

Secondary did all sorts of maths and English this week including; weighing up costs and profit, learning about improper fractions and mixed numbers, grammar work and a Halloween Poem by Ken Nesbitt.
Primary did some reading on Reading Eggs and making a Zones of Regulation board

What an awesome life skill to learn – how to assemble a piece of flat pack furniture! What young person won’t one day have to tackle this over complicated task, with hard to read confusing instructions, what goes where, and when you get that inevitable missing or left over piece at the end. At least we are giving our young people a head start into this adulthood task 🙂

A trip to Duxford Air Museum for these young people – Duxford played a vital role in the Battle of Britain, one of the most significant aerial battles of the Second World War. Famous fighter aces such as Douglas Bader flew and fought from this historic airfield.

The resin inlaid bench is coming together nicely in Newmarket 2 and this week we have been concentrating on our sanding skills.

Looking after animals is a huge responsibility. Our young primary students have their very own pet to look after – so here we are recording the feeding and temperature for Ender and having some cuddle time.

Some football skills both outside (playing) and inside (sorting football cards to learn numbers, phonics, rules of football and countries), together with some great Lego sharing playtime.

Every opportunity can be a learning opportunity. Thinking on our feet, considering options, coming up with a plan – how do we get the ball off the roof?….a flag pole

The guitar project is coming along beautifully…

So we had a little bit of rain this week….here one young person decided to be super helpful and direct cars around the flooded road.

Two different types of imaginative play from designing your own small world to VR headsets – both young people learning to play and use their imagination with different mediums.

Lash lift and tint and make up tutorials in our beauty room this week.

We could not finish this week off without some; Pumpkin Artwork, Pumpkin Carving, Halloween costume and Guy Fawkes pictures.

Our Ethos
No one can begin to affect the world around them until they are CONFIDENT , COMFORTABLE, happy in their own skin and have found their SPARK! We take the time to understand and develop programmes from where the learner is in the world not where we think they should be.
