As usual our awesome eclectic team have been providing our young people with some amazing adventures, new experiences all whilst learning!

Over in Newmarket 2 which offers; construction, carpentry, bike mechanics, arts & crafts our young people have been learning the skill in bricklaying. How cool is this?! someone who maybe didn’t get on in school, for whatever reason, has found a skill that can truly be a great career ahead of them!

A different skill to bricklaying also in Newmarket 2 is carpentry. Also a great career to show an interest in. I wonder what this end project will look like?

Plumbing – another great skill to learn and master. This week we replaced taps in the kitchen of The Stable Cafe in Newmarket.

….and learning how to join waste pipe systems.

Over in Newmarket 1 our MX5 project is looking a bit sorry for itself!

The gear box has been removed, allowing us to fit a new clutch. All front and rear suspension arms, drive shaft and axles have been removed – ready to go for shot blasting and painting and all nice new parts will be fitted!

I am sure based on Car SOS that we have been watching for lots of tips and ideas, this is the progress needed to end up with a gorgeous car at the end…watch this space!

Arts & Crafts are a great way to express yourself as it can give you a healthy space, it can provide a feeling of relaxation, creativity, and inspiration. Any form of creativity can reduce the stress hormone cortisol and encourage the good hormones endorphins and dopamine in our brains.

Here we have Cross Stitch (a very relaxing art), testing out some new ideas with resin, mark making with stone crayons, being creative using every pen in the pencil case and soap making!

On a more academic note we have been busy playing ‘Brainbox’, learning about angles, practicing writing, word searches, assimilating information from text and constructing analytical sentences to answer GCSE Level 2 questions, prime numbers and working hard on Paper 2 of English GCSE comparing writers viewpoints and perspectives. Massive well done to these young people for sticking with one of the hardest elements of what we provide – they excelled this week!

Footgolf today, adding up the scores at the end and then checking with calculator – what a great way to do maths!

Art in a different form, here we have make up and nails being practiced.

The beauty industry is constantly growing, with new trends and styles coming out every year. According to data from Statista, revenue in the UK beauty care segment is forecasted to reach £2.16 billion by 2027, demonstrating the high demand and opportunity that the industry has to offer.

So this is definitely a great career choice for this young person

Other great career choices include working with animals and being a chef. Here we visited Swallows Aquatics for some work experience, helped out at a dog grooming parlor and worked on our culinary skills.

Another rewarding way to spend your time is helping as a volunteer at charity organisations. Here we visited the Bury St Edmunds Stray Cat Fund.

Watch this space for an exciting project with Pushforward and the Bury Stray Cat Fund!

From Cats to Horses. A visit to Newmarket Racecourse. Whether a career choice or hobby – horses can also be amazingly therapeutic. Visiting them at the Newmarket Racecourse we get to learn about their environment, feeding, exercise.

From Cats, to Horses to Sealife! A trip to learn all about the life under the sea for our young people this week.

A trip to the food museum – with 75 acres in Suffolk, 40000 objects and 17 buildings for us to explore!

We have had lots of awesome trips this week. These pictures are of Melford Hall.

Melford Hall is a stately home in the village of Long Melford, Suffolk, England. Since 1786 it has been the seat of the Parker Baronets and is still lived in by the Hyde Parker family. Since 1960 it has been owned by the National Trust

Why cook indoors when you can build your own fire and make everyone pasta outside!

Having fun and being creative outdoors. This week we created board games, a waterfall master piece, an obstacle course and designed and built a climbing frame.

Playing nicely and cooperatively with our friends – what an awesome day!

Exploring the waterfall and river current with our feet.

Is water a sensory activity? Water play is an excellent sensory experience, playing with water just feels good. It is also a great way to calm overwhelmed little people, and it also offers lots of learning opportunities.

Learning about how animals are killed for their skins or tusks – educating the bad points in the world as well as the good, so one day our young people can help make a change.

Who does not like a bit of dressing up and music…obviously our tutor Neil loves to show off his musical abilities 🙂

Being active is great for young people, a brilliant way to relieve stress and have fun. This week different types of sporting activities took place; football, bowling, golf, snooker, footgolf, beep test and playing catch.

When cooking its not just the making, its learning the whole process from buying the ingredients, making, designing and of course eating the cookies! We also have artisan bread making this week and a trip to the seaside to enjoy our lunch.

We finish this amazing week with a ‘thank you’. The team work so hard to make the educational experience for our young people easier and more enjoyable, so when a young person becomes confident enough to transition back to school following our support, we can not be more proud and getting a thank you from the family is the icing on the cake.

Our Ethos

No one can begin to affect the world around them until they are CONFIDENT , COMFORTABLE, happy in their own skin and have found their SPARK! We take the time to understand and develop programmes from where the learner is in the world not where we think they should be.
