W/C 2nd January 2023 – HAPPY NEW YEAR!

So we were back this week after the Christmas break. We hope all our young people had a wonderful Christmas and we wish everyone a Happy New Year.

So although we only had two days back providing education to our young people – what a lot we crammed in those two days! From photography to mechanics, spelling to model building, hammocks and outside play to museum trips, bus trips and fitness.

Over in Newmarket the MX5 project is well underway. New cam belt fitted, water pump and seals. And after 7 years of this car not moving – it now starts!

In our Photography area we were able to capture some amazing aerial shots and one of our friendly Pebbles!

Great idea kids to work off all those Christmas puddings! And a big achievement for a first time outing with Pushforward. A bit of climbing, helping with strength, confidence and co-ordination and little bit of fun speeding down the slide. Well done!

Education can be fun. A little trip to the Food Museum, meeting the animals and seeing East Anglian life through History. The tractors were a big hit with these young people!

Hobbies provide a healthy outlet for various energies. Finding time in your day to do something you want to do and enjoy doing can reduce negative stress while promoting positive stress. This young person loves ‘buses’; riding them, information about them – having an interest in more than just a computer screen is valuable and what a great way to see the world around you but on the top deck of a bus!

Playing outdoors allows children to develop self-confidence, independence and self-esteem. They also become aware of limits, boundaries and challenge in their play. When children are used to playing outdoors, they are more likely to: try new activities.

Due to their natural swaying motion, hammocks can help you relax, lower blood pressure, and reduce stress levels in the body. It doesn’t get much more relaxing than hanging midair in your hammock, looking up at the beautiful sky, and enjoying the great outdoors and these young people’s smiley faces certainly prove this point!

We work with young people from 5 to 18+ and they all have different needs and interests, from some young people enjoying building model planes and trains, to our youngest learning to spell and read. What we do is find their interest, help them to find their spark, build confidence and feel comfortable in their environment. Learning through play, learning outside a classroom, learning through experience and education, life skills and their own interests.

Our Ethos

No one can begin to affect the world around them until they are CONFIDENT , COMFORTABLE, happy in their own skin and have found their SPARK! We take the time to understand and develop programmes from where the learner is in the world not where we think they should be.
